Eagle's Nest Preschool is a laboratory school program where junior and senior high school students serve as teachers. The high school students learn about developmentally appropriate practices and the role of an early childhood educator. As the students become the teachers, they strive to work in the spirit of excellence and provide the very best care, interactions, and guidance to the preschoolers in our program. Student teachers are trained as any employee of a Texas state licensed facility is.
Preschool students attend Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8:30-12:00, October through May each year. During the day our preschoolers are afforded almost a one to one ratio where they are constantly engaged in learning. We have times daily for music and movement, math, science, literacy, art, and centers. Our program utilizes Handwriting Without Tears and Zoo-phonics for literacy.
It is ideally a two year program with a threes class and fours class. Our fours class is typically only open to a few new students each year as the previous years students re-enroll. There is a graduation for all in May of each year.
